Notary Public Application Service

Purpose: Terms of Use for lawyers and paralegals to review and understand what they are agreeing to when they want to open a service request for notary public appointment using the public facing portal.

    1. About the Notary Public Appointment Portal

The Appointment portal is a website that allows you to enter identifying personal information for notary public appointment purposes that the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery (“ministry”) can use for the administration of notary public appointment certificates as per the Notaries Act, R.S.O. 1990.

    2. How we use your information

The information you provide, such as Call to the Bar date, Law Society of Ontario Number and contact information, is provided to the ministry and will be accessed by the ministry to open an appointment service request. The information provided will be used to verify your credentials and mail out certificates to successful candidates.

    3. Contacting you

The information you provide through the portal may be used by the ministry to contact you for the purposes of your service request (I.e., issue LSO license)

    4. Authorized collection and use

The ministry’s collection and use of your information, with your permission, is necessary for the proper administration of notary public appointments services, which is authorized under the Ministry of Government Services Act and through Notaries Act, R.S.O. 1990.

    5. Your agreement

By agreeing to these terms and accessing the online portal to submit a notary public appointment request you are agreeing to the ministry’s collection, use and disclosure of this information only for the purpose of notary public appointment service.

  1. To initiate service request online and add to service queue
  2. To send confirmation email with service request number
  3. To contact if any issues with service request or payment
  4. To mail certificate of appointment

The ministry will not further use or disclose your personal information, except for the purposes stated above.
